News from the Packinghouse
Summer Hours
Just a reminder that G&S has implemented a temporary summer work schedule that will begin on May 3rd. This schedule will include a three day work week; Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm., and will run through the month of August.
End of Regular Shipping Season
This week will mark the end of the regular 2009-2010 shipping season. The Florida Gift Fruit Shippers Association will transport their last shipment on Thursday, April 29th. Please note that this will NOT include any parcels to Canada. Please make sure all orders for this final shipment are into the packing house by 5:00 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, April 27th.
Summer Program
Our summer citrus program will begin shipments on May 4th and will offer the following style numbers:
#1 PACK
#2 PACK
#4 PACK
We cannot ship deluxe items due to the summer heat. Shipments will be every Tuesday during the summer months via Fed Ex Express Saver. All pricing for the summer program will remain the same as your 2009-2010 seasonal pricing for the above listed packs. Our tropical summer program will begin mid to late June and will include Mangos, Avocados, and tropical fruits. Additional information regarding the tropical summer program will be forwarded in an upcoming newsletter.
Current Varieties Available
Murcott Tangerines – through mid May.
Valencia Oranges – through mid July.
Grapefruit – through May or as long as they remain wholesome.
Advertising Rebate Program
May 1st is the absolute last day to turn in all qualifying advertising material, receipts, etc., for reimbursement.
DMA
Ann Watterson has requested that you please forward any address corrections you may have received this past season from your individual Gift List. Our Data Entry department will soon begin maintenance on these lists.
Alternate Contact Numbers
If you close your doors through the summer months, please contact our office with alternate contact numbers; such as phone, fax, etc. In addition, please also provide an email address if you currently have one available.
Customer Appreciation Day
Plans are in the works for this year’s Customer Appreciation Day and information will be forwarded as soon as the plans are finalized.
Transportation Meeting
The Florida Gift Fruit Shippers Association recently held a Transportation meeting of which G&S was involved. Delivery stats were reviewed and additional information was evaluated in determining the new schedule. Donna Garren, Executive Vice President of the Association, stated that the approved shipping schedule was the finest she has seen in many years. We are pleased to inform you that members of G&S were instrumental in coordinating this new schedule, and we’re looking forward to the 2010-2011 season!!!
