News from the Packing House

Tri-Fold Advertising mailers

We are thrilled with the response received on our Winter (January) Tri-Fold mailer and delighted to now offer a Spring/Summer Tri-fold. This mailer will go out next week and is scheduled to arrive “in-home” on February 22.   We are pleased to offer several new and exciting packs in this flier to help promote your Spring program.  Please be aware that web images are available for those who wish to add any of these products to your website.

Shipping

We are presently shipping only one day a week and request that all orders be in to our office by Friday of the previous week to ship the next.  We are working closely with the Association on shifting the current shipping day, Wednesday, to a more suitable day in the future.

Citrus Quality

As you are aware, our industry is one that is highly affected by all types of weather conditions.  It can effect transportation from harvesting to the packing facility; packing facility to a postal facility; and postal facility to a residence.  Weather also affects the availability of fruit from year to year.  Large crops one year may prove to be smaller the next or even unusable.  Unusable crops may then not bear fruit for several years.

It is our goal to ship only the highest quality of citrus gift fruit.  We are extremely proud of our efforts during the 08/09 season and fully realize that we fell short this past year due to various weather conditions.  We appreciate your patience and wish to praise our Customer Service Department for their dedication in handling your calls and issues.

Weather

The Association is diligent in notifying us of any weather related shipping delays.   Below is the latest notice received:

We just received the following notification from SmartPost.

            Dear Valued Customer,

Two major winter storms brought heavy snow to the Mid-Atlantic region this         week.  As a result, inbound and outbound transportation was impacted in some           FedEx SmartPost Hub areas, creating some delays.  Affected packages could           expect a one to three day delay in some areas especially around the         Washington, DC metropolitan area.  FedEx SmartPost Hubs impacted by the             storm are: Martinsburg WV, Edison NJ, and Philadelphia, PA.  Northborough MA            was affected slightly with some inbound transportation coming up the East Coast       from these hubs.

FedEx SmartPost has been actively monitoring the situation and implementing contingency plans where needed to address weather related issues this week.  Every effort has been made to minimize any delays that may occur.  The above         hubs are planning to work through Saturday to get packages delivered to the USPS and back on target prior to President’s Day on Monday, February 15,             2010.

The USPS had suspended delivery service for all of Maryland, Washington   DC, Northern Virginia down to Richmond, and West of Charlottesville    between February 10 and 11th this week.  The USPS will attempt full services        today, February 12, 2010 throughout these areas.  The USPS realizes that many   roads are still closed but will do their best to deliver mail today and Saturday.
